Schools

My Grandmother, whom I was brought up by, was a retired teacher, so I have always known the value of education, and schools, from a very young age.

I watched her as a proud member of the school PTA and Governors, and felt very proud when she met us at the leisure centre to volunteer to teach myself and my classmates how to swim.

I have tried to follow in her footsteps by getting involved with my own children's school whenever possible, whilst also keeping in touch with my own primary school, by presenting the trophy in her name to the winner each year - the "Sybil Currie Shield for Perseverance".

I was an active member of the PTA for many years at my children's primary school, holding the position of secretary for a number of years.

I have also set up community chat groups for the Year 6 - Year 7 transition of parents - because it is always such a big step to move up to Secondary School. We use the chat group to keep in touch and ask each other about inset days, homework and anything else school related. My eldest is now Year 10 and the group is still active and there when we need it.
